About

The Laborhood Podcast is an educational platform designed to support and advocate for birthing persons and their families. Standing on the values of evidence-based education and effective communication, we supply women with the tools to use their own voices to generate the safest and best version of their birth experiences.

The Laborhood Podcast was born of our passion for people getting the best care that we can provide both in and out of the labor room. We have seen first hand how the ball is dropped in a multitude of facets  including miscommunication, miseducation and practitioners simply lacking the wherewithal to practice professionally. The difference that we were making in the rooms, and on the units just wasn’t enough, and we realized that the breakdown was happening prior to our patients’ arrival. We wanted to create an informational space for folks to be prepared before their visits. Thus, “The Laborhood” was born!

Mission Statement

The Laborhood strives to chip away at the breakdowns in healthcare and systemic barriers that contribute to poor childbirth outcomes and maternal mortality. It is our hope to positively impact the birthing community by alleviating the fears and stigmas associated with giving birth in the United States.

Vision Statement

The Laborhood exists to empower the voices of those who give birth and stimulate conversations that improve Women’s healthcare. Our platform makes the necessary space to cultivate better birth experiences for patients and healthcare providers, and increases awareness for other black owned businesses and services that provide care for underserved communities.
