Shay

Shay Payne is a Certified Nurse- Midwife from Greensboro, NC. In 2016, she obtained a Bachelors in Science of Nursing from Winston-Salem State University. She launched her career as a registered nurse for The Women’s Hospital of Greensboro, where she gained L&D experience in high-risk obstetrics, hydrotherapy and aromatherapy. For the next 2 years, she became captivated by holistic, low-intervention births and began a part-time position for Magnolia Birth Center. In 2019, she transitioned into a management role and pioneered a new Birthing Center at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, NC. It was there where she became a Certified Nurse in Inpatient Obstetrics and started her climb to Clinical Midwifery. As a travel Nurse, she navigated various hospitals throughout NC while she obtained a Masters Degree in the Science of Nursing from Frontier Nursing University. In 2022, she became a Board-Certified Nurse Midwife and currently practices back in her hometown.

Briea

Briea Parks is a nationally certified registered nurse from Lawndale, NC. She is a 2015 cum laude graduate of the illustrious Winston-Salem State University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing with a minor in psychology. In 2015, she began her nursing career as a cardiac telemetry nurse and in 2016 began working as a labor and delivery nurse at the then Women’s Hospital of Greensboro in Greensboro, NC. In 2019, she transitioned into a leadership role when she became a charge nurse as a pioneer team member of The Birth Center at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. In 2020, she graduated with a Masters of Science in Nursing in Leadership and Management from Western Governors University. In 2021, she received her national certification in in-patient obstetric nursing. Since then, she has continued to work as a labor and delivery staff nurse in the capacity of travel nursing and recently began working in education on the baccalaureate level as a clinical instructor for North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, NC. Briea’s passion for obstetrics and birth work came at an early age and she has devoted her career in labor and delivery to creating a safe space for all women to feel safe and heard as they bring life into the world.
